WESTERN BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT COUNCIL – WAIHĪ BEACH COMMUNITY BOARD

- Dani Simpson –

MIndependent y principal place of residence is in the Waihī Beach Community Board area.

Formerly of Hamilton, my family and I have now made Waihī Beach our home. We love the lifestyle and the people we’ve met here and I’d love to give back to the community that has welcomed us so warmly.

I have several years of governance experience including chairing the Student Residence Trust Aotearoa and on the board of the Breast Cancer Research Trust. I run my public relations and communications consultancy from our home in Bowentown, working with clients around New Zealand including in a pro bono capacity locally, providing communications services to Sustainable Waihī Beach. I pride myself on being an active member of the community and look forward to being your voice on the community board.

Independent

M y principal place of residence is not in the Waihī Beach Community Board area.

My wife (Catherine) and I have owned a property at Waihī Beach since 1987.

I’ve been a member of the Waihī Beach Community Board for the past three years. I’m hoping that I can continue to work with other members of the Community Board, Councillors, and Council employees, to ensure that the Waihī Beach, Bowentown, and Athrenee communities continue to be listened to, so as the wider area remains an attractive environment for current and future ratepayers.

My background is in Chartered Accountancy having been a partner in an international accounting firm, practising in Hamilton, with further experience as a Director and Company Secretary with a Manufacturing Company. More recently I’ve been involved in Consultancy roles with some Charitable Organisations having accounting, taxation and governance responsibilities.

I have been on various New Zealand Accountants Society Committees, Treasurer and President of a Sports Club and a Trustee on a School Board.

My principal place of residence is in the Waihī Beach Community Board area.

Ko Mauao me Hikurangi Ngā maunga Ko Tauranga te moana

Ko Mātaatua te waKa

Ko Ngāi Te Rangi te Iwi

Ko Te Whānau a Tauwhao te Hapū Kei Ōtāwhiwhi te marae . . . . tihei mauriora!

I stand proud of my heritage and am blessed to be tangata whenua of Waihī Beach. I am the current Chairperson for the marae and hold representative mandates for the WBOPDC Māori Forum and for Environmental matters.

I believe in community kotahitanga (unity) and whanaungatanga (relationships). The past couple of years has been hard on us all. It is time to come together as Waihī Beach and work towards caring for our treasure we all call home. We need a future aimed at sustaining a true balance of Environmental, Social, Cultural, Economic well-being for Waihī Beach.
