The Old Library Ōmokoroa

- By Alison Badger

If you were unable to visit TOLO this August, you missed an absolute treat. The amazing John D Wilson displayed his surreal 3D art, along with other pieces, including landscapes and pieces paying homage to LS Lowry, Banksy and Salvador Dali – what a feast! John will be back in December with a new exhibition, so make a note in your diary.

Looking ahead to (Blue) September, we will again be focussing on the menfolk and promoting awareness of Prostate Cancer, so a shout out to all you talented creative guys to get in touch so we can include your work and – if you like - some background on your creative journey; we love to know more about the items we are lucky enough to display.

And make a note in your diary for Friday 30th September, an evening for Blokes Bits & Beers – wives, partners and significant others also welcome. The fellas may all be staunch, but this is a real opportunity to nag them into understanding the importance of looking after themselves because cancer - in all its forms - affects not only the patient but also their family and friends, and early detection and treatment makes all the difference in the world.

If you have a man-themed item,

whether it’s a photograph, painting, sculpture, gift from grandpa, old jacket, let us know – we would love to include it in our Blue September display.

Heads up for October – Breast Cancer Awareness month. This year we will be supporting Project Uplift again. We did so fabulously well last year. Let’s see if we can do it again. We will also be collecting items to support Women’s Refuge, such as personal toiletries – soap, toothpaste, etc. Why not buy an extra one when you next shop and donate it? Every single item will help.

Contact Alison on 021 294 9294 for further information.
