LOCATION AND LIFESTYLE

There’s a lot you can do on a few hectares as Judy and Ron discovered when they subdivided their Tamahere property in the early 2000s. They had lived on their property for many years before subdividing it and building a new home on 2.7ha, or 6.7 acres (more or less). ‘‘We love the peaceful setting and the views of kahikatea trees and farmland.’’

The outlook inspired their decision to design and build their home in 2006. They also liked the idea of having extensive shedding and creating a brand-new house that offered maximum comfort and served as a gathering spot for their family.

‘‘Our north-facing home is at the heart of the property. We enjoy the bright, spacious open plan areas which provide views of our surroundings.’’

Sprawling lawns, mature trees, and bird life greet the couple every morning when they open their bedroom curtains. The sunrises are spectacular, and the sunsets and night sky are something to behold.

Built for a large family, the modern brick home contains four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two living areas. The spacious kitchen has a scullery and great connectivity with the dining area. The kitchen windows open out to Judy and Ron’s favourite spot – a large, 7mx4m covered outdoor area. ‘‘We’ve spent countless hours here enjoying breakfast, long lunches and evening barbecues.’’

The property has been used for horse training and is currently occupied by a horse and grazing cattle. With stables, training track, paddocks, and excellent shedding, it is well set up for, but not limited to, equestrian pursuits. The superb facilities will appeal to a broad base of buyers.

A family who loves spending time outdoors will find opportunities to enjoy their pastimes here. The property could accommodate animal rearing, a pool, tennis court and more sheds. It’s in a fantastic location close to Hamilton and Cambridge, and ideal for those who work from home. The property will resonate with horse lovers, tradies requiring space and storage, car enthusiasts and buyers looking for a quality lifestyle on the city outskirts, minutes from the Waikato expressway. By its very nature, the home is low maintenance, and the established infrastructure is impressive.

Tamahere and Matangi village shops, schools and services are close.

Hamilton Airport is handy. Cambridge and Hamilton are both easy commuting distance and zoning is for sought after schools.

‘‘We have lived on the property for 40-plus years, and in this home for 17 years. We’ve loved living in this area where we raised our family, but it’s time for us to downsize. The plan is to move to Cambridge.’’
