-

Two purpose-built 100 per cent electric kerbside glass collection and recycling trucks, fully constructed in New Zealand, are to soon hit the streets working for Palmerston North City Council.

The low emission vehicle (LEV) trucks, which will be used for the collection of streetside rubbish and glass recycling, will be launched on Monday August 20 in the city. The two electric trucks constructed by Manco Environmental Ltd will replace the two existing leased diesel trucks. The council received $350,000 from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority’s (EECA) low emission vehicles contestable fund towards the $736,000 cost of the two new vehicles.
