Players meeting heroes at netball’s big game

-

Kaydence Cochran got up close to her favourite netballer when she led the Pulse and Steel teams on to the court at Fly Arena on Saturday night.

Kaydence and her friend Ani Retemeyer, who both attend Parkland School, won the meet-the-team captains through the ANZ Future Captains competition.

Eleven-year-old Kaydence said Pulse’s captain Katrina Grant was her favourite player, which was a double win for her to join the captains at the ANZ Netball Premiership final game along with Ani, 10.

“The whole experience was so cool. I loved getting to meet all the players and have my photo taken with them. Katrina Grant is my favourite player because she plays the same position as me,” Kaydence said.

She also has her sights on playing for the Silver Ferns one day.

ANZ is giving 94 children from across around New Zealand the chance to be a Future Captain and meet their sporting heroes at each of the ANZ Premiership matches this season.

The Steel beat the Pulse 54-53. Steph Holloway, NZ leading body language expert and communication authority is in Palmerston North for a one-off visit, September 8-10 at Bella Vista Motel Conference Centre.
