Santa and festive fun for the season

■ Get your all your Christmas gifts and festive treats at the annual Magic of Christmas Night Market held again this year at Awapuni Racecourse on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 December from 3pm10pm. Whether you’re perusing the 170 stalls, pre-ordering your Christmas feast or just soaking up the atmosphere, the Magic of Christmas Night Market is the place to be to prepare for the “big day” in a relaxed and beautiful environment. ■ What better way to get into the festive spirit and give back this season, than joining The Great NZ Santa Run/Walk on Wednesday December 5 from 5pm with the run starting at 6.30pm. Take part to help fundraise for the Graeme Dingle Foundation which works to build positive child and youth development. Sign up for the 3km fun run/walk and you will get a Santa suit to wear too. It’s sure to be a jolly fun time!. ■ Head along to the big International Sprintcar Series race for this season on Thursday December 6 from 7pm. Spectacular speedway action guaranteed when the 800 horsepower monsters take to the track at Robertson Holden International Speedway.
■ Ring in the festive season with your family and friends at Christmas at Caccia Birch on Friday December 7. The evening is jam-packed with Christmas entertainment for the whole family, with live music, face painting, giant games, a bouncy castle, Screamer slide, food and lots of amazing prizes.
■ Take a trip to Ashhurst’s Christmas Parade on Saturday December 8 from 10am — 10.30am to celebrate the Christmas season. Get some Christmas shopping ticked off at the Church fair and community market. You might even get to see a certain Mr Claus.
■ Feilding has its Christmas Parade and Carnival in the Town Square on Sunday December 9 from 10am-4pm. There will be stalls galore, brilliant live entertainment and family-friendly fun.
■ Harry Potter fans won’t want to miss Jemima Goes to Hogwarts on at The Globe Theatre from Monday 10 December. This Tall Poppies junior production tells the story of an ordinary Palmerston North girl going to Hogwarts, encountering her heroes and doing the right things without expecting fame.
