Business hits milestone with 900,000th x-ray

-

Broadway Radiology has reached a significant milestone and is heading towards the million mark in two years’ time.

It has now x-rayed its 900,000th patient since the business opened its doors in February 1998.

General manager Duncan Scott says Broadway Radiology (BRL) will x-ray or scan its millionth patient sometime during the year 2020.

He says the milestone vindicated that BRL establish a private, standalone medical imaging facility, and it also meant they had provided a valuable service to nearly a million patients in the Manawatu¯ /Horowhenua region.

The 900,000th patient was a woman from Levin who visited the Horowhenua Health Centre. The figure achieved is a little less than the total number of people in the South Island and about 12 times the population of Palmerston North.

“We always envisaged the region required a private imaging service to meet patient needs in Palmerston North and the surrounding districts. The last 20 years has proved us correct.”

Duncan says the demand has led to BRL moving from its Broadway Ave location to a new state-of-the-art facility

in Grey St last year. It has further expanded to the Feilding and Horowhenua Health centres.

“The need for a viable alternative to the public health system has seen BRL invest heavily in the latest technology such as our leading-edge MRI, CT and ultrasound as well as ultra-modern digital x-ray equipment,” he says.

“This has been essential because of the growing number of people in our region seeking private medical imaging services.”

BRL is locally owned and operated and Duncan says they are proud of the strong footprint established in the city and surrounding districts.
