Welcome to a new year in the Manawatu¯ with a new list of events to tick off your list. As summer slowly makes its way towards us, check out what is going on in and around Palmerston North. Mark your calendars for the events below and check out all other events that are on at the Palmerston North City i-SITE in The Square. Or see ManawatuNZ.co.nz/ whats-on for more information.

■ Head out to Feilding and visit The Coach House Museum for their hands-on exhibit called Nga¯ Taonga Ta¯ karo — traditional Ma¯ ori games. Knucklebones, poi, and stick games are among some of the games they have to play. The museum’s central display area is devoted to an area where children (and their parents) can explore games of a Ma¯ ori childhood, and in most instances test their skills by having a go. This is running throughout January and February. Normal entry fee applies.

■ If you want to commit yourself to some fitness this month, join in with The Manawatu¯ Striders for Super Sevens 2020 for a 7km/3km run or walk. These will be held over the next seven Tuesdays, starting on Tuesday, January 21 in Ongley Park at 6.15pm. You can choose to pay $20.00 for the seven nights or pay $4.00 per night that you decide to run or walk. Cash only. A well-earned banana and sausage will be waiting at the finish line for you. For information see their website.

■ For something unique, head along to Shed 23 on Princess St to see Alice Foulds, January 24 at 7.30pm. Foulds brings her unique, emotive performance to the most intimate venue of the tour, Shed 23 in Palmerston North.
