Booth offers work hearing tests
Clinic can do annual checks of workers and other services for local business
Oyez, oyez, oyez! Did you know Monarch Ear Care in Terrace End offers hearing testing for businesses as part of their WorkSafe health and safety requirements?
It has done so since opening in May 2020, but now has a spacious soundproof booth at its clinic.
It can offer annual hearing screening and hearing health checks as part of health monitoring for noise-related industries.
Services include a pure tone audiogram (hearing test), full Excel report showing results and recommendations, and copies of audiograms for all staff members.
Packages are available to include wax removal, ear health and hearing education, plus testing can be done at workplaces.
“As an employer, staff hearing tests are an important part of your staff’s health monitoring under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and wellness plans,” owner and registered nurse Donna Isaacson says. “Testing also helps check on the effectiveness of hearing protection.”
As patients relax in the adjustable dental chair, they can look at the TV to see inside their ears
before and after treatment. Donna uses a suction machine to remove wax — it’s safer and gentler on the ears than syringing.
It’s a satisfying process. “It’s like they are wearing natural ear plugs. You take them out and they hear so much better.”
She enjoys meeting new people and how they are a lot happier when they leave with improved hearing. Patients comment how friendly Donna is and how she makes them feel relaxed.
Some people need their ears cleaned every six weeks, others every three, six or 12 months. Some never have a build up of wax and even a person’s ears can be different. It’s all about the shape and size of the ear canal.
