Former lecturer picks up NewYear honour for service

A former UCOL lecturer and project director has been recognised in today’s New Year honours.

Jule Einhorn has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to tertiary education and art.

Now living in Wellington, Mrs Einhorn managed the 2008 opening of the new UCOL campus in Whanganui from its through to completion.

Her citation says she focused on inclusivit­y and ensured that Whanganui iwi were partners in the campus project.

at UCOL Palmerston North, and Canterbury and Lincoln universiti­es on art, design, photograph­y, art history and printmakin­g.

At a UCOL graduation ceremony in March, 2012, Ms Einhorn received an Institutio­nal Medal for ‘‘ particu- larly meritoriou­s UCOL.

Ms Einhorn managed disposal of parts of the old campus and led negotiatio­ns with the Tupoho Whanau Trust to establish a community complex at the old UCOL campus.
