Fascination Street goes in the right direction

Tuesday morning and is also ready to run a big race.’’

Clark thinks Fascination Street’s versatility will be a major factor in achieving success over the next few months.

‘‘She’s adept in most track conditions and can sprint well against the best of them and I’m confident she will get 1600 when we test her,’’ he said.

In Saturday’s 1100 metre contest, apart from her stablemate, the toughest to beat will be Silver Eclipse, Statham and the evergreen Durham Town. There’s nothing like dreaming in the racing game.

At least New Plymouth owner-trainer Tracey Bliss thinks so and the aptly named horse she owns and trains is proof of that.

Bliss lines up Neverstopdreaming in the $7000 Anton Mora and Son Painters Maiden 1400m for three-year-olds on her home course at Friday’s seven-race twilight meeting.

It’s only the second start for Neverstopdreaming after a first-up run for fifth on the same track late last month.

‘‘You have to keep dreaming in this game,’’ said Bliss who named the Per Incanto-Latino Lady gelding.

Bliss said she was happy Neverstopdreaming’s debut run.

‘‘To be honest, I wasn’t going to start him. He wasn’t quite ready, but the field was light so I put him in. He drew one and can go hard, so I told the jockey not to go to the front but she did. He fought her and the bit went up inside his face . . . up by his eyes. I’ve changed the bridle.’’

Bliss said she rated the horse highly. ‘‘I think he’s the best I’ve had for a while. I’ve done a lot of beach work with him and he gallops well. I expect on pure ability he will run well. He’s still learning and should be in it (the finish).’’

Neverstopdreaming is the only horse Bliss is lining up on Friday. ‘‘I"ve only got two in work, Neverstopdreaming and a un-named half sister to him. I’m pre-training a few others.’’

John Wheeler’s runner Western finished

with strongly for third on the track late last month and will start one of the favoured runners, while Bulls visitor Epic ran home strongly for third at Otaki earlier this month. The tote will be the best guide for first-starters Acclaim, Allmosta and Dynamite Lucy. Acclaim is trained at Waverley by Rosie Gibbs, with Allmosta (Allan Sharrock) and Dynamite Lucy (Robbie Patterson) both trained on the track.
