Drone footage could hold vital clues to help catch killer

-

A drone user may have crucial footage for the investigation into the killing of a Whanganui gang member.

Mongrel Mob member Kevin Ratana, known as ‘‘Kastro’’, 27, was gunned down outside his home on Puriri St on August 21.

Police believe a drone user may have captured images or film of a vehicle possibly linked to the death.

A police spokeswoman said officers were trying to uncover the movements of a white Hyundai Coupe thought to have been used by the killers.

A drone was seen in the area at the time of the shooting and police are asking anyone with footage to come forward.

So far, three men have been charged with the murder of Ratana.

A 27-year-old man appeared in Whanganui District Court on Wednesday this week.

He was kept in custody until November.

Two other men appeared in the Whanganui and Lower Hutt courts, respectively, on Tuesday, also charged with murder.

Both were senior, patched Black Power members.
