Adams ’smashes steaks’

Steven Adams was raised on Kiwi beef and lamb, but the NBA basketball star says he ‘‘smashes’’ American steaks. The Oklahoma Thunder centre has featured in a 30-second television commercial for the Oklahoma Beef Commission, extolling his love of red meat. Adams – seated on a truck’s tail gate – said, in his quintessentially Kiwi accent (supported by sub-titles): ‘‘Mate, I eat beef all the time, I smash steaks all the bloody time, mate. Adams then hopped off the truck and, gripping a basketball emblazoned with a ‘Beef’ logo, said: ‘‘I just smash them because they taste really good.’’
