Wrong way on one-way
Up to 15 motorcycle gang members have been spotted riding the wrong way down Dunedin’s one-way system. Motorists reported to police between 10 to 15 Tribesmen motorcyclists were going the wrong way, not stopping for red lights, and riding on cycle lanes about 6.30pm on Thursday. ‘‘That was disappointing,’’ Sergeant John Hedges said. It appears the gang members ‘‘overshot’’ a service station. ‘‘So they turned around and headed back up the same way.’’ Hedges said it was alarming the gang members used their bikes to ‘‘stop cars on green lights, so that their motorbikes could drive through red lights’’. ‘‘Just complete arrogance, really.’’ It was understood the gang members were from the North Island, and were on their way to the Burt Munro Rally in Invercargill. Inquiries were continuing, Hedges said.
