School sex abuse claims continue

-

Extra investigators have been called in to look into claims of historical abuse at an Auckland boarding school. Police have received more than 70 phone calls about historical abuse at Dilworth School since the first raft of arrests were made in mid-September. Seven men with links to the Anglican boys’ school have now been arrested for alleged historical offending. They have been charged with sexual violation, indecent assault and supplying drugs. All of the charged men are aged between 60 and 78. Yesterday, Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber said a ‘‘significant’’ number of phone calls and emails had been received about the matter. Police had also increased the number of staff working on the investigation. A counsellor had also been brought on to the team. ‘‘Having an experienced counsellor available will allowthem to work with victims through the process as this matter continues,’’ Baber said.
