■ Sad to hear via RNZ news bulletin the passing of Helen Reddy at the age of 78 because of dementia in a LA nursing home. RIP Helen Reddy.

■ Why do descendant­s of the first

wave of immigrants expect special treatment over the subsequent waves of immigrants? Extra help and support should be based only on need, not on the time your ancestors emigrated to NZ.

Does TV 3 believe in gender equality? The panel discussion after the last leaders’ debate was all female.

So $40 million for the early stages of the Kiwirail freight yard equates to howmany new full-time jobs? Offset by howmany dispossess­ed households around Bunnythorp­e? And no guarantee of any further funding to build the yard itself. Who

■ Agree totally with the text about the stupidity of the new traffic layout and fence outside the Palmerston North Airport. Now to drop off or pick up a passenger you have to drive through the public car park. If it is raining you get wet trying to get yourself and your luggage into or out of the terminal (abridged).

■ Watched both debates on Thursday. The US presidenti­al debate was a cockfight, the NZ leaders’ debate a cat fight. Disappoint­ing to see the

similariti­es.

■ Jacaru and other texters, have you overlooked the photo op of Judith Collins kissing babies? Not a good look with social distancing either, methinks. RH

■ In my opinion, Judith Collins is definitely prime ministeria­l. She has the knowledge and aptitude to lead this country into good times again.
