Four new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in managed isolation yesterday, hours out from the opening of the trans-tasman bubble.

The Ministry of Health confirmed four new Covid-19 cases yesterday as well as one historical case in managed isolation.

Two of the new cases arrived from Kenya on April 10 and tested positive on day five in managed isolation.

One came from Pakistan on April 5 and was detected on day 12, and another came from Lebanon on April 15 and was detected on arrival.

The new cases take the tally of active Covid-19 cases in New Zealand to 102 and the total number of cases to date to 2239.

A travel-bubble opened with Australia at 11.59pm last night.

Australian Department of Health figures show there are 154 active cases in all of Australia. Of the 100 cases acquired in Australia in the past seven days just one was caught locally. The remaining 99 were in people who had flown into Australia.
