Airport cleaner at work while infectious
An Auckland Airport border worker, a fully vaccinated cleaner who tested positive for Covid-19, worked three shifts while infectious with the virus. Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins and Director of Public Health Dr Caroline Mcelnay gave the update yesterday. Mcelnay said 25 close contacts of the worker had been identified, 17 of whom were workplace contacts. So far, seven close contacts of the worker have received negative test results for the virus. All close contacts are selfisolating. The number of workplace contacts was likely to rise, Mcelnay said, as officials worked to figure out whowas a close contact from their interactions. Mcelnay said that while the worker had been infectious during three work shifts, therewas no additional risk to any passengers who travelled on planes that had been cleaned by the worker.
