■ Cycle lanes in main Street/pioneer Highway have me completely baffled. Hardly see a cyclist and the ones I do still ride on footpath. Those coloured tubs are dangerous and distracting.

■ Re retiree. He can change carers. There are 5 agencies. I’m with Geneva. I have the same caregiver Monday to Friday, and same person Saturday and Sunday. YCM

■ Great to see the tekoteko pattern of the NZ Order of Merit conspicuous on the chests of Charles and Anne at the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh. The image made me feel we were there. CHRISTO

■ Seymour and Act are right to demand Parliament to define ‘‘hate

speech’’. If the proposed legislation was quoted correctly it could affect a person’s right to complain or criticise any action, person or thing. ■ Retiree is correct about his carers. As a support worker for over 15 years we are often sent to clients with limited knowledge of what is required. Some support workers are casual students with limited skills or not long school leavers.

■ I’m a 86 year-old motorcyclist. Years ago Defensive Driving School taught me to always have an escape route, now blocked off by boxes on Pioneer Highway. If forced to hit one I’m dead.
