Lastweeken­d’s high of ending that title drought evaporated for Lydia Ko on her return to the LPGA Tour in California yesterday. The 23-yearold New Zealander finished the opening day of the Hugel-air Premia LA Open 13 shots off the lead after two double bogeys and four bogeys in her seven-over par 79, tied for 136th. Kowas backing up after winning her first LPGA Tour title in three years on Sunday. America’s Jessica Korda shot three birdies in her final four holes to surge into the lead after an opening round of seven-under-par 71.
