Travellers here with no departure tests
The Government is still not checking that every arrival from Australia has a pre-departure Covid-19 test, despite current checks identifying more than 100 people trying to enter the country without one. Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said staffing issues meant it was still not possible to check the pre-departure test documentation of every arrival from Australia. He said the Government was keen to increase the number of checks and move to digitally checking every test. Stuff understands the checks thus far have caught out 100 travellers without a test, with most being either sent into a managed isolation hotel or straight home. A spokesperson for Managed Isolation and Quarantine said 111 people were in managed isolation who had travelled to New Zealand while breaking the rules for the transtasman bubble. This included those who had travelled despite recently being in a state with an outbreak.
