Nineteen new Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday 19 new cases in managed isolation, one historical case and no new cases in the community.

The 19 new cases are all mariners in isolation, 11 of whom are in Christchurch, five in Lyttleton and three from Bluff.

Sixteen of the cases were on the Playa Zahara vessel and the three from Bluff were on the Mattina.

The historical case was identified at the border.

Crew aboard the Mattina have tested positive for the Delta variant and are quarantining on the vessel, with two of the members on board transported to a quarantine facility in Christchurch.
