Charged for refusing to wear a mask
A man who allegedly refused to wear a face mask at a Countdown supermarket was wrestled to the ground by police and the public. The 45-year-old Christchurch man will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday charged with disorderly behaviour, resisting police and wilful trespass at Countdown Ferry Rd on Monday evening. The man was allegedly acting aggressively, a police spokesperson said. A member of the public said several police and members of the public intervened to help wrestle the man to the ground outside the supermarket’s entrance. The lockdown breach followed the arrest of another Christchurch man after he allegedly spat at a security guard at Countdown Church Corner on Friday. He had been refused entry for not wearing a mask.
