TV series can use Sex Pistols songs, says court

-

The former frontman of the Sex Pistols has lost a High Court battle with two bandmates over the use of songs in a television series. John Lydon – better known as Johnny Rotten – had accused Paul Cook and Steve Jones of treating him as ‘‘slave labour’’ in their attempt to allow the songs to be used in a Disney series due for release next year. Directed by Danny Boyle, who made Trainspotting and slumdog millionaire, the series is based on Jones’s 2016 memoir, Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol. The band formed in 1975 and disbanded in 1978 but have performed live shows since.
