‘‘We’ve got four guns to come [into the side] tomix with our talented youngsters. We’ve got a couple of Junior Tall Blacks in the squad and one ex-Junior Tall Black. We are youthful, but they play pretty hard and with that youthful exuberance,’’ he said.

The rest of the team, who have an average age close to 20, have been training for nine weeks under Taufale, who will be assisted by Tia Temata-Frost and Matt Te Huna, both former Jets.

Taufale was happy with how the group had developed in training and their two pre-season losses to the Wellington Saints and Hawke’s Bay Hawks.

He said the team had been getting used to the level required and the new culture.

There are only three players back from last year’s squad: Temara, Tu Kaha Cooper and Isaac Morrison.
