Testing centre to move

-

Palmerston North’s familiar Covid-19 testing site in Main St is closing tomorrow. Midcentral Covid-19 response manager Bronwen warren said the site had served the community well, but with the lease coming to an end, and the Omicron wave slowing, it was a timely move. Central Energy Trust Arena will be the new base for testing and collecting rapid antigen tests, with access through the Cuba St, Gate 3 entrance. Testing will not be done there on Saturdays, when the venue is needed for speedway. Services will move to The Palms in Ferguson St instead. There were 308 new cases in the Midcentral district yesterday, with six people in Palmerston North Hospital, and one further death related to the virus. There were 1958 active cases across the district, including 1092 in Palmerston North, 336 in Manawatū, 289 in Horowhenua, 153 in Tararua and 88 in Ōtaki.
