Pigs keep Romans indoors
Terrified Romans are introducing night-time curfews after attacks on evening strollers by packs ofwild pigs. A residents’ association in the middle-class Balduina area has recommended that locals stay indoors after dark and notwalk their dogs, which can provoke the pigs’wrath. As their numbers rise across Italy, wild pigs are being drawn into Rome by overflowing rubbish bins, and are frequently seen trotting along pavements, looking for a snack, unperturbed by heavy traffic. An estimated 20,000 pigs nowlive in Rome and the surrounding province.
