The MidCentral Health district has recorded its 29th death of the Covid-19 pandemic, with acting senior responsible officer Kelvin Billinghurst extending sympathies to the person’s family and friends.

There were 272 new community cases across the district yesterday, with 14 people in Palmerston North Hospital.

The total number of active cases across the district was 1968, including 1085 in Palmerston North, 333 in Manawatū, 281 in Horowhenua, 169 in Tararua, and 100 in ōtaki

Billinghurst reminded people that the drive-through testing site in Main St, the focal point of the Covid-19 response for two years, closed yesterday.

From tomorrow, people could get a PCR test or collect their pre-ordered rapid antigen tests from the Central Energy Trust Arena, via Gate 3 on Cuba St.

The CET Arena site would be open weekdays 8.30am to 4pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm. It would close on Saturday, and tests would be available then from The Palms Medical Centre in Ferguson St.
