One dead, one hurt in accidents

One person has died following a car crash in Kairanga, Manawatū, police say. The single vehicle crash on Longburn Rongotea Rdwas reported to police about 7.15am yesterday. A police spokesperson said the car collided with a pole and the sole occupant died at the scene. Meanwhile, one person has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car. A police spokesperson said they received reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Ruahine and Main St just before 12pm on Saturday. The pedestrianwas transported to hospital in a serious condition.
