Dannevirke fire

-

A blaze at a commercial building in Dannevirke yesterday morning has been extinguished. Emergency services were alerted to the fire on Miller St about 6.45am. Fire and emergency shift manager Karen McDonald said six engines and two support vehicles from the surrounding Manawatū-Whanganui area were at the scene, with trucks from Woodville and Norsewood also in attendance. The crews extinguished the fire and remained on site to dampen down hot spots. A specialist fire investigator was also present to identify the cause of the blaze. There were no reports of injuries. ‘‘There is no indication at this time that the fire was suspicious,’’ MacDonald said. Miller St was closed throughout the morning, but reopened about 11.30am.
