Liverpool stay in hunt

Liverpool recovered from conceding in the third minute to beat Aston Villa 2-1 and move level on pointswith Manchester City in the English Premier League title race yesterday. City, who lead thanks to a superior goal difference, played their game in hand against Wolverhamp­ton Wanderers today. The two title rivals will then only have twomore league games to play. Sadio Mane scored the winner for Liverpool at Villa Park, heading home a cross from Luis Diaz in the 65th minute. Liverpool had fallen behind to Douglas Luiz’ close-range strike, only to equalise three minutes later when Joel Matip converted into an empty net after fellowcent­re back Virgil van Dijk had a shot saved. Liverpool finish their campaign with games against Southampto­n and Wolves next week. City’s final two games are againstwes­t Ham United and Villa.
