A Connecticu­t state trooperwho is originally from Poland got quite a surprisewh­ile responding to an SUV with a flat tyre yesterday – a passenger in the vehicle happened to be former Polish president Lech Walesa. Lukasz Lipert arrived to the callout andwas greeted byWalesa, who had spoken in Hartford as part of a US tour advocating for aid for refugeeswh­o have fled Ukraine during thewarwith Russia. Walesa, 78, led the nationwide Solidarity movement in Poland in the 1980s that eventually toppled the country’s communist leaders. ‘‘It was definitely a great experience,’’ said Lipert, 35, who came to the US when hewas 18.
