Harrods imposes sanctions on Russian shoppers
First their yachtswere impounded, then their assets frozen. Now, in possibly themost painful blowyet, Russians have been told they may not shop at Harrods – not seriously, at any rate. The Knightsbridge department store has contacted Russian customers warning that it will no longer sell them ‘‘luxury goods’’ worth more than £300 (NZ$588). Themove, the store said, is in order to comply with sanctions introduced in thewake of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. It means items, ranging from jewellery and designer clothing to furniture and gym equipment, are nowoff limits, but it is unclearwhether Harrods famous food hampers, which can cost up to £1000, would also be on the banned list.
