Offender flees police

One person is in custody after a wanted offender fled police in Marton yesterday. Police did not pursue the vehicle, but the Armed Offenders Squad were called when it was seen at a nearby address. A police spokesperson said police attempted to stop a vehicle on Potaka St about 11.15am as it was suspected the driverwas awanted offender. Officers were armed as a precaution and cordons were put in place around the property. The cordons have since been removed with one person nowin custody.
