Awapuni under scrutiny

The track conditions at Awapuni and other racecourses are coming in for close scrutiny after abandonments on Saturday. The final six races were called off at Awapuni due to a horse slipping in the second race. Races were also abandoned at Riccarton. NZ Thoroughbred Racing has requested a comprehensive report from Race Inc, and called urgent meetings with major race clubs and regional track advisors. Chief executive Bruce Sharrock said track condition issues appeared to be occurring with greater frequency.
