WWII medal missing
A World War II medal gifted to a Horowhenua store has allegedly been stolen. A post on the Manawatū , Taranaki, Whanganui-Ruapehu Police Facebook page on Monday said the WWII Memorial Cross Medal, like the one pictured, was taken from a Levin store some time between 12pm on November 1 and 9am on November 2. The medal belonged to R.J.E Coleman who died during service and his family had donated it to the shop. Sergeant Paul Cannell said the medal was sentimental, and he hoped it would be returned as soon as possible. The cross had been in a black case and R.J.E. Coleman was engraved on the medal. Police would like to hear from anyone with information regarding the theft or anyone who had recently acquired a medal. Anyone with information could call police on 105 with reference 221104/6033, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
