The Globe continues to #Showcaseourcommunity with The Tripods – Season 2. The Tripods, directed by Arlo Macmillan, is a local series made by a group of teenagers. It’s inspired by the John Christopher trilogy, and the 1984-85 BBC Series of the same name. Most of it has been filmed in and around Manawatu and the Wrights Hill Fortress in Wellington. The series was filmed over six years, with the core cast and crew starting out aged 12, and finishing the series aged 19. More than 30 Palmerston North teenagers participated in the project. Entry is free and the film starts at 7.30pm.

December wouldn’t be December without Mr Lola Illusion. This month he is bringing Mixed Nuts to the theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 8, 9 and 10. Mixed Nuts is a ‘‘Christmas Cabaret of Biblical Proportions’’ starring some of Palmerston North’s finest musical theatre talent. It is perfect for your end-of-year function and will thrill you with comedy, singers, dancers, burlesque and magic. What better way to get into the silly season?

December 10

One of the hardest-working comedians, Dan Brader, is back in Palmerston North for one night only. Dan is a cult Kiwi comedy veteran. He’s been in the game since 2007 and has performed all over New Zealand and Australia. Dan has a natural cheeky charm, razor-sharp gags, and a penchant for loose, fun, wild storytelling and fun, spicy banter! You might have heard him on Radio New Zealand where he was interviewed about his Dunedin Fringe Festival show and career. Dan’s just back from a successful tour of Melbourne and is joined by the one and only Kajun Campbellbrooking who has quickly become a viral sensation, both off stage and on. Don’t miss this star in the making.
