▍ Perhaps councils who hold responsibility for painting coloured pedestrian crossings need to be “corrected” by Waka Kotahi. The rules and reasons for white stripes are to highlight the crossing in all weather. It's all about safety, no other reason. - Rainbow crossings typically aren’t designated pedestrian (zebra) crossings. The one on George St in Palmerston North is a courtesy crossing, and the one in Cuba Mall Wellington is at a crossing managed by traffic lights. – Editor
