Manawatu Standard

A digital future for Manawatū Standard

- Matthew Dallas

We’ve always been here right beside you, be it high on the range or down in the floodwaters. We capture the successes, the challenges, the colour and the character of our region.

For more than 140 years Manawatū Standard has proudly represented the people and interests of Palmerston North and the wider Manawatū.

Our journalists keep the beat of living in the heartland, from the wind turbines to the riverbeds, connecting diverse communities through the sharing of news and ideas.

We celebrate our triumphs and learn from our struggles. We promote knowledge and understanding.

It’s a pleasure to report on Manawatū’s emergence as a hub for industry and its thirst for innovation, while championing our cultural and sporting successes.

Without fear we cast light on our environmental and infrastructure challenges.

We speak truth to power at a time of swelling communication teams employed to reshape truth for power.

Ours is a provincial lifestyle built around family. It’s easygoing and honest, but it’s never boring.

Everything is within reach. We have bush walks and unspoiled beaches on our doorsteps.

We have Victoria Park Esplanade, Te Āpiti Manawatū Gorge, Te Manawa museum. Cafes, galleries and cinemas, full of character and characters, are nestled into the nooks of our byways and beautiful small towns.

And, if we want to, we can be exploring Tongariro National Park or trekking around the capital within a couple of hours. It really is an awesome place to be a Kiwi.

So I am delighted to confirm Manawatū Standard is also looking forward confidently to a strong future with the launch today of a new digital home for our content that is exclusive to our subscribers and digital subscribers of The Press, The Post and the Waikato Times.

You can find it at thepost.co.nz/ manawatu-standard.

Now you can keep the news with you wherever you go, to read it on your phone, your laptop, your tablet. Our daily print subscribers will be given full access to this digital content for free, while digital-only subscribers can sign up for access to Manawatū Standard’s independent journalism, wherever they live.

We are also committed to working together to make Manawatū a better place.

Our journalists know their work is both a privilege and a public service.

Thank you for being a subscriber and helping keep Manawatū Standard a strong independent voice for Palmerston North and the surrounding districts.
