Institute gets top ranking
South Auckland’s Manukau Institute of Technology has been ranked as Category One by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
The gold star rating comes after the recent External Evaluation and Review by NZQA. It is conducted by a panel of education experts every three years.
Out of the six key evaluation questions, they were awarded ‘‘excellent’’ for four, and the same for eight of the twelve focus areas. None of the ratings were lower than ‘‘good.’’
MIT Chief Executive Gus Gilmore says the high rating is an endorsement of MIT’s ‘‘focus on student outcomes, and engagement with our communities, industries and professions’’.
‘‘Our purpose is to get our students into great jobs, providing them with the skills, support and connections to enter their chosen career,’’ remarks Gilmore.
The report also highlighted the institute’s commitment students, community, professions, and industry.
One of the comments read: ’’Students at MIT gain useful skills, knowledge and qualifications that support them to gain employment and contribute positively to their communities.’’
