Fashion in the Vines’ Instagram makeover
The ever popular Fashion in the Vines competition will run on the digital stage again at this year’s Marlborough Wine and Food Festival.
As trialled in previous years, the competition on Saturday will be held via social media platform Instagram – as a way to encourage more punters to enter.
Marlborough Wine and Food Festival events manager Loren Coffey said they were encouraging festival goers to take a full length photo of themselves at the festival and upload it to Instagram.
‘‘We look for something a little bit different, something out there that’s celebratory of the day,’’ Coffey said.
‘‘Make sure you’re dressed as your best."
She said the decision to switch the competition to digital was so more people did not not miss out on the day.
‘‘We wanted to give people the opportunity to be snapped when they are ready and looking their best rather than trying to get on-site at a certain time.
‘‘Going digital means that there’s a way of having it [the competition] stick around, because people have posted about it.
‘‘It is also a way to capture the competition and broadcast entries to the fashion lovers that might not be able to make it on the day,’’ Coffey said.
She said previous winners had worn quite ‘‘loud’’ outfits that have made them stick out from other social media users.
‘‘There are no criteria, however, originality and something a little bit festive would certainly catch anyone’s eye on social media,’’ she said.
This year No. 4 Boutique and CREW Urban Surf Apparel had come on board with some ‘‘epic prizes’’.
Those who wanted to enter the competition should tag Instagram account @marlboroughfest, the official account for the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival. Further updates would be posted on the account too, Coffey said.
