We decided to do this ride on Sunday January 24, as it was the only day we both have off in common.

It was so HOT. We started by biking out to the Riverlands Estate along the Rail Trail (A great walk, also! Ed.) This was sealed for the most part. From the end of Sheffield Street, we biked along SH1 to Hardings Road. What a relief to get off the main road.

My friend and I both have e-bikes and managed to get through the gate onto the track. (I have wide cow-horn-styled handlebars.) Upon reading the informatio­n board, we both agreed the 4.5km ride each way would be achievable. Off we set, negotiatin­g the bumpier tree roots.
