Shuttle services available for health appointments

-

Eleanor Kietzmann, Grey Power Marlborough’s committee member with the health portfolio, reminds members that shuttles operate between Picton, Blenheim and Nelson for patients requiring treatments.

■ The St John Health Shuttle is a free community service that transports people to essential medical and health-related appointments, and then brings them home again.

There’s no charge for shuttle transport; however a donation is appreciated to cover costs.

To book a journey, call toll free on 0800 333 781.

■ The Marlborough Sounds Community Vehicle Trust runs an ‘on demand’ service taking passengers to and from medical appointments in Nelson.

A driver picks up people from Blenheim, Renwick, Picton and anywhere along Queen Charlotte Drive and State Highway 6.

They may also be able to assist returning Marlborough patients discharged from Nelson Hospital (subject to notice).

To use the community vehicle you must become a member of the trust ($15 per year). The cost of a return trip is $40.

Phone 03 574 1311 or email soundsvehicle@gmail.com.

■ Eleanor is also willing to be contacted by members with their views, positive or negative, on how they are finding the home care provision.

Phone Eleanor, 03 578 6360 or 022 077 1957.
