Marlborough Express - Weekend Express

Welcome to the 98th annual show

-

The Flaxbourne Show date is racing up on us as always.

Fortunately this year we have no covid lockdowns or traffic light system to contend with, so it is with confidence that I introduce myself as President and invite you to attend.

Show Day is the biggest day of the year for the community as a whole and everyone does what they can to bring the day together. The sense of community in this area is always a huge part of the day and it is great to be a part of.

Agricultural and Pastoral Shows have traditionally been about showing off what we as an industry do best and for those of a competitive nature about trying to top the class in their chosen passion. Also, it has been an opportunity for people from rural and urban backgrounds to come together and enjoy a connection not always found in the day to day of life. The importance of this history is maintained at Flaxbourne and we look forward to it continuing into the future.

Another tradition of the show centres around the relationship between humans and animals and the spectacular land we live on, and extends outwards to the people and industries who are involved with Ag or in support of it in general. This is seen at the show in everything from the equestrian and sheep shearing sections right through to the farm equipment and machinery on show.

The support of the local and wider community in the form of sponsorship and time is also something that helps the show run smoothly. I ask that you support the businesses from Marlborough and further afield who help to make the day a success, so that we can continue to run our show to a high standard.

To all competitors who have entered this year I wish you the best and hope the competition helps you learn more about your chosen discipline.

A massive thanks to the committee for all your hard work and efforts to make the day a success.

Lastly, thank you t the wider Marlborough region for your support.

Nau mai, haere mai

Welcome. We will see you there.
