Williamson reaches the top-five in all rankings

-

Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson is now in the top five rankings in all three forms of international cricket.

That confirms Williamson’s reputation as one of the current game’s best batsmen. The only other player to feature in the top five across all formats in the latest rankings release is Indian captain Virat Kohli.

Williamson has lifted to No 4 in the Twenty20 rankings following New Zealand’s 3-0 sweep of Bangladesh.

Williamson is also ranked No 4 in the test batting list and No 5 in the ODI batting rankings.

Williamson scored 145 runs across the three T20 matches against Bangladesh, including two fifties. That saw him lift from two places on the world batting rankings.

Kohli remains on top of the T20I charts after the latest update and is second in both the ODI and test rankings for batsmen.

In releasing their latest rankings, the ICC noted that both Kohli and Williamson were captains of their respective countries in the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2008, which India won.

New Zealand remain No 1 in the world T20 team rankings.

New Zealand’s whitewash of Bangladesh also featured a 45-ball 101 from Colin Munro.
