Wellington coach exits on triumphant note

-

Lydia Ko has revealed she used a golf theme to propose to her boyfriend Chung Jun, dubbed her ‘‘good luck charm’’.

Ko, who has lifted two spots to be world No 3 after her latest win in South Korea, is now engaged.

In a lively chat on Talking on the Henni & Hally: Women with Game podcast with hosts Hally Leadbetter and Henni Koyack, the 25-year-old Kiwi revealed the marriage process.

‘‘It’s very complicated. I proposed to him as well and then he proposed to me. I was like ‘why is it that the guy has got to propose?’ So I did it very golf-like. I wrote on golf balls ‘will you marry me?’

‘‘In Korea we set a wedding date before proposals, so you’re engaged but sometimes the guy will 26-18 in the NPC final last weekend.

‘‘I am probably one of the older school coaches, you know?’’ Crowley says. ‘‘I never played rep rugby, I coached club and agegroup all the way through.

‘‘So I have had a good trot. I just think it is time, now, for someone else to have a crack. And to go away on my terms is a cool way to finish.’’

One of the tasks Crowley has marked in his diary is to give the manager on his dairy farm a break. He’s looking forward to a change.

‘‘I’m not going back to fulltime on the farm, I will just help out there. Just relax a bit. Rugby coaching is a lot of pressure, and I will just look after myself.’’
