NZR drops ball again
Australia over Super Rugby that do not reflect well on either party.
The drama around an historically poor season by the All Blacks has not been handled well, from cancelled press conferences after the home series defeat to the Irish, to the communications shambles around the review of
Ian Foster’s job while he was in South Africa, to the mismanagement of coaching success story Scott Robertson that effectively had him poised to take over the national team, only to have the rug pulled from under him at the last minute.
Some have also wondered aloud why so many of the organisation’s so-called independent reviews contain people clearly aligned with NZ Rugby. It’s a fair question.
So, what do we have now? Just one more unfortunate bungle, or further evidence this is an organisation in dire need of getting its act together?
If you answered ‘‘both’’, you are probably pretty close to the mark.
