Cody spreads the word

-

Undercover Cody has slipped, slopped, slapped and wrapped and is ready to party in Matamata.

The Waikato- BOP Cancer Society SunSmart ambassador, Undercover Cody is on the road again this summer with a brand new roadshow that is simply not to be missed.

‘‘It’s Undercover Cody’s 10th birthday and we are ready to celebrate with as many children in our region as we can,’’ Cancer Society spokeswoman Rachael Mounsey said.

Written by well-known local playwright, Renee BoyerWillisson, the Undercover Cody summer roadshow has not been viewed before and promises to be both entertaining and educational.

Local children from Matamata will be entertained on Tuesday, December 4, when Undercover Cody and his good mates Duke, Ella and Rupert visit to spread the sunsmart word.

‘‘Cool kids Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap when out and about enjoying the sun, and Undercover Cody is a great way of cementing this message,’’ Ms Mounsey said.

Aimed at kids aged from 3 to 10, the roadshow is completely free for all schools that have booked online.

Early childhood centres and Kohanga Reo are encouraged to join the fun with their local school or Kura.

Every child who attends the show will get a free goody bag full of great resources to take away.

There will be loads of fantastic giveaways and opportunities for the kids to sing and rap while they slip, slop, slap and wrap with Undercover Cody.

In addition to the Undercover Cody 2012 roadshow, the Cancer Society has launched a new interactive website and Undercover Cody fans will be able to download a new ‘‘Undercover’’ App for their iPads and iPhones, free from the Apple online store.

Undercover Cody’s familiar message – Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap – has been given another dimension through these new interactive platforms.

Visually and cognitively stimulated, kids are more involved in learning how to be SunSmart, while having fun at the same time.

The Cancer Society is committed to giving back to the community and to celebrating 10 years of successful SunSmart education.

In November the Cancer Society will launch a competition in which two schools will win a brand new sunshade worth $1000.

People will need to look out for the advertisements in Bay of Plenty and Waikato newspapers, find the lucky code and visit undercovercody. co. nz to enter. They can enter their own school or nominate another of their choice to win.

The two lucky winning schools (one in the BOP and one in the Waikato) will be notified in December.
