The Matamata College reunion is coming up in March. The school will mark its 100th birthday with a host of special events over a weekend. It’s asking for past and present students, staff and friends to come together to mark the special occasion. Among those likely to be there are Vanessa Oshima and Caroline Steer. The two women and old college friends are learning how to deal with cancer in their lives and are both taking part in a symbolic project to out run the disease. They will meet at the college reunion and continue with their programme of running distances every day to motivate themselves and others to fight cancer. Reporter Rexine Hawes found out more on their campaign in her page 1 story this week. The reunion will start on March 23 with a high tea event for people to reconnect and reminisce with old school friends. The organisers are also asking for people to share their old photos of their college days, and you can do so by contacting the college on: reunion@ matamatacollege.school.nz
