TAHITI’S TOP GRAPES
The Islands of Tahiti are famed for their crystal clear waters. But you may be surprised to know that the gorgeous Rangiroa atoll is home to a vineyard as well. And the grapes at Vin de Tahiti recently reached peak ripeness – for the 50th time in 20 years. Most winegrowing regions have winter dormancies, with spring growth and harvest in autumn. But in the small town of Avatoru, home of Vin de Tahiti, the 28°C temperatures and endless summer provides two and sometimes three harvests per year. The unique coral soil houses 15 acres of vines that yield 3000 cases of wine a year. vindetahiti.com
